Conversely I have ECM's on both the indoor and outdoor units and the compressor is a VFD. No RFI. It depends on the vendor, their OEM's, etc. Best advice is find an installer that will take the time to understand what you need. My installer was even interested enough to take me around to existing installs of the system so I could listen for RFI.

Hi Steve,

Controllers for variable speed motors are notoriously noisy, and should be avoided. Yes, they are more efficient.
