One thing I've noticed on PSK31, hellschreiber or Stream is that
most guys are running very basic stations. TS-520's, FT-757's,
TS-140's--30 to 40 watts. How many times in a contest write-up
do you see someone running a station like that. It's 2
FT-1000MPIIIA-6's with Alphas--1500 watts, 3 towers and 10
antennas. I remember in the "good ole' days" contesting with a
model 15 and ST-5 and an old Drake TR-3. Most of the younger
guys probably think they couldn't be competitive with simple
stations, but they are missing out on a whole bunch of fun. 73
