I have been using a serial printer for more than five years, and it's
one of the handiest devices that I own. It's the DYMO LabelWriter EL60
(available at PC Connection as well as elsewhere). I got it initially
because I was working as a beta-tester for LogWindows and the author
mentioned that he liked it and had added support to LogWindows to print
QSL labels and address labels from the Flying-Horse CD-ROM. This prints
on a roll of labels, one-at-a-time, and is MUCH handier than the bigger
tractor-feed printers. I also use it for making address labels for all
outgoing mail, and it prints the post-office bar-code for zip-codes.
Needless to say, you can also use it for labels for any purpose.
(Identifying jars of pickles & other stuff the xyl cans, labels for
storage drawers in the shop, etc.)
Yes, it's not cheap; but few things are that are that handy!

I have been using my Epson LQ-570 for several years but I can't get
it to work now. It just prints garbage. I have tried several
different drivers that appear in the files that are named LQ570XXXXX,
LQ500XXXXX, etc. but none of them work for me.
