Who has operating tips for the ARRL-DX? Here are a few to get us started:
1. Remember to look for an opening to EU on 20M early morning. (thanks
W4AN) My highest rate in 2000 (101 Qs) was on 20M from 4 to 5 a.m. local
time on Saturday morning.
2. Don't forget about 160M! This band can be especially important for low
power stations because many low power operators either don't have antennas
or don't put much effort on 160. You can really help yourself with
additional multipliers here!
3. An hour or so before the contest ends, point your antennas to the south
and look for SA/Caribbean mults.
I haven't figured out when to sleep, so if anyone has thoughts here they
would be appreciated. Last year I slept for app. 4 hours Saturday night
and guess I'll plan on the same schedule unless conditions dictate doing
something different.
Other ideas?
