Make a shortcut to TR on the desktop by doing a right click, then new, then
shortcut. Select browse, then find TR.exe file. After you make the
shortcut, right click on it, then select properties. Select the program tab
and set the working directory to the particular contest you want. This
directory is where the logcfg.dat, restart.bin, etc files live. I use a
structure like c:\log\contests\1999\arrldxcw and so forth. The TR.exe file
lives in the c:\log directory, but each contest has its own subdirectory.
This works fine for me. You can also play with some of the other tabs to
select what kind of window to run in, etc. I have had no trouble whatsoever
running TR under Win98 this way. I have heard lots of folks say they had big
trouble, but none here.

You can also do Start-programs-MSDOS window, then choose the right directory
under does and run TR, as long as the directory where the TR.exe file
resides is in your path statement.

Send me another email if you still have problems, I'll be glad to help you
get it going.

I have been using TRLog for a number of years in my old DOS machine.
Have now upgraded to a new PC with Windows98. I first loaded TRLog
under dos and have an icon on my desk top that starts it. However, when
I first ran TRLog I chose to select the 160m contest. It is now the
only contest I can start. I am unable to start the program in another
folder (or subdirectory) so that I can select another contest.
Sure would like to talk to someone who is running TRLog in Windows98. I
know it must be cockpit problems but after about a week of trying I'm at
a lost. Thanks and
73 Pete N4KW

p.s. I have tried the following DOS paths
c:\windows\tr6.40\contest\cq99ssb\tr (enter)
c:\tr6.40\contest\cq99ssb\tr (enter)
It will only run if I use the following path
c:\windows\tr6.40\tr (enter) or
c:\tr6.40\tr (enter)
If I were on a DOS machine I would look the Autoexec.bat file but have
been unable to view or edit that file.
