>From a business point of view, T-T should be most interested in a
"subscription" product, like the Titan Gold, since there is virtually
no risk involved, provided the size of the pre-paid sales lot is large
enough.
>From a hamming point of view, I'd like a "hackable" radio, RF/AF deck
in one box, frequency control (PTO, DDS, VCO, any 5-5.5 MHz) in a separate
box, and have the ability to have 2 or 3 VFO's with simultaneous RX.
The RF would be 5W plus optional 100W amp, use relays or PIN diodes to
switch bands, DDS the "xtal" part of "xtal" mixing so that it does general
coverage RX using the classic T-T preselector. Stick with thru-hole
construction
and leave a part of each board unetched, for "ugly construction" mods and hacks.
Stick with "ordinary" devices. Stick with aluminum cabinet and chassis.
Make it a part of the kit line by painting it black with white lettering,
but make, mark and terminate all cables and wiring at the factory. Pre-punch
some extra phono-jack holes on the back and a couple of pot/switch size holes
in the front.
Whew!
