I can't say just what it is, but the pain of an RF burn is unlike anything
else.  I got quite a few back in Novice and General days but learned my
lesson.  The Palomar clamp on RF meter has been a very valuable tool here.

Just a side point,

If you are having rf currents on the outside of your coax,  there will be 
alot of problems,  from RFI at the minimum to damaging the radio in the 
extreme.  Ever feel a RF Burn?

They make RF Current meters to detect that,
