Thomas, have gotten many replies and most all say the early models had
a lot of birdie problems, some could be fixed and some not, since mine is
an early one I suspect I will try some of the mods and see if they work,
The birdies are low level, on a noisy band not too noticable, but on a
quiet band they are same strength as a weak signal. I can notch them out
or even tune them out with the passband tuning, but an aggravation. The 6 Plus was better contruction with better boards etc. so it elminated
the birdie problem from what I understand. I have the plus chips and
logic board and TCXO but the early boards in the rest. Thanks 73 Merv

Merv,

I have the Omni VI+, and I think it is nearly identical to the opt 3. Mine is
very clean with few noticeable birdies. The fact that you have birdies at a
high level doesn't seem right. I guess we should wait and see what others say.

After s great service from TT and fast shipping getting
parts out to remote Molokai, I have a
Omni 6 opt 3 up and running,
I have a question, is it common for the Omni 6 to have
so many birdies? Seems across the 20 meter band
there are numerous Birdies, more than one would expect.
Or is this a sign of alignment or more repairs needed?
They are low level so to speak, but irritating while
listening to a normal signal.
Thanks 73 Merv K9FD/Kh6
