Stuart,Can you give us the exact Kraus quote, or a reference, to see the context in which he made it? My 3rd edition of Antennas says:"Although a charge moving with uniform velocity along a straight conductor does not radiate, a charge moving back and forth in simple harmonic motion along the conductor is subject to acceleration (and deceleration) and radiates." No talk there of discontinuities - they are not needed for radiation; a charge accelerating or decelerating at the centre of an infinitely long wire *will* radiate. 73, Steve G3TXQ |
