[TenTec] SAF Use?

I'm finally getting back on the air after about 6 months of a layoff.

I was playing with the SAF function last night.  While the results were
good,I have no idea how it should be used. Settings, etc. I just twiddles
the knobs to make it work!

Is there a tutorial or explanation on how it should be used? If so,where
can I find it?
