BTW, some further info...

3 months ago when I worked on the problem, and had the rig open, it was 
extremely sensitive to movement. If I picked up the rig by one corner, the 
problem would immediately occur. That went away after I did all of the 
reaseating.
This time around, it sometimes recovers if I flip the band switch back and 
forth a couple of times. Sometimes not - the last time, it died mid-QSO on 40m, 
and stayed dead until I turned it off for about 20 minutes. 

Thanks all, good suggestions so far. I might open it this weekend.
