The problems with arcing in the TL-922 and possibly the L4B which both use
3-500 is with VHF parasitics. After I made the modifications suggested by
AG6K at http://www.vcnet.com/measures I no longer burn up the band switches
and suffer arcs on the caps on my TL-922. I regularly (when chasing a new
a one on 160M) run my TL-922 in the higher plate voltage position about
2.8KV under load without problem since I made the mods suggested on dick
measures web site. I also have installed the QSK mods in my TL-922 as
outlined at this same web site without problems. What a pleasure to run full
break in at 1400 watts out on CW! If you have a TL-922 now preform the VHF
parasitic mods instead, you will have a better amp in the end.....
