John, SM5DZJ who is the QSL manager for 5R8FU has been kind enough to email saying the QSO was good. Whilst I agree that there can be and are major differences in receiving capability between stations, and I think that I receive quite well here, I cannot imagine that they can make the difference between 589 and nothing. (My definition of 589 is a signal copiable with virtually no background noise - an SNR of the order of 20dB.) I think this was an extreme manifestation of the 'foglight' effect! 73 Roger |
