I have used both the conventional multiple filar winding transformers as
covered in ON4UN's book and the isolation transformers too. I have
personally found the best performance as far as reduced noise transfer and
common mode to be with the isolation transformer, where the primary and
secondary windings are wound on opposing sides of the ferrite core. I also
found that using a large ferrite core as in a 2.4" O.D.
FT-240-43 2.400 inch 1.400 inch 0.500 inch 43 850
works better then the smaller ferrite cores such as a 1.4" O.D. as far as
isolation.
FT-140-43 1.400 inch 0.900 inch 0.500 inch 43 850
or the 0.5" O.D. cores.
FT-50-43 0.500 inch 0.281 inch 0.188 inch 43 850
