I too have wondered that, but never have owned one.  I do have one sitting 
in the barn just now, part of an estate that I am trying to peddle for the 
widow.  Make the widow an offer via me...nice and clean, but untested yet (I 
will get to it) and I have to pop the cover to find out what filters are in 
it.  940, matching spkr and mc60 mic.  Nice looking radio, but performance?
