I also have to disagree with Jarda's observations. When I have worked
K4M around 06Z on both 80 & 160, the signals have always been from the
direct path (356 deg).
I have 600ft beverages at 310deg and 030deg, single switched K9AY loop
at 0 / 180 degrees. The K9AY has been best on both occasions, same with
NL7Z earlier in the week.
I didn't expect that when I put up the K9AY loop as both these beverages
are very quiet. The K9AY is near my house and has a higher noise floor,
it was only added to cover south as I can't get a beverage in that
direction. Just as well I made it switchable!
