The TRIBE has spoken! Its clear we won't be making the attempt for
Field Day (unless the League gives 100 bonus points for each 160
contact)!
I have been in the top ten for Field Day a number of times (N6ME and
W6ZE) here on the west coast. Got as high as second place overall a
couple of years ago. Our operations concentrate heavy on 80-15 and
VHF/UHF. It takes a serious CW effort to get into the top 10! However,
we have never even attempted 160.
A small group had a little pre field day meeting last night and
discussed 160. I said I would ask the experts! Since I couldn't find
any, I came here and asked instead...HA HA. Just kidding just kidding,
but I digress...
One of our ops (N6HC) has some DXpedition experience with 160 and his
comments reflects all of yours!
The ARRL 160 contest is right around the corner with CQ's at the end of
Jan and Feb. Maybe I'll give a listen!
Thanks for all your valuable input! I loved the "top secret" story!
Don't worry, your secret is safe with me! 73!

How many of you operate 160 during Field Day? Out of those who do, what
are your observations? Is it worth the effort to string a long wire or
v-beam to make contacts on 160 during Field Day? What are your
recommendations for 160 operations during Field Day?
