Topband: RBOG wire

I am debating leaving RBOG wire on the lawn vs pushing it into the soil at a 
depth of an inch or two. Does it make any difference performance-wise if I dig 
it in? 

If yes, I will set lawn tractor cut higher and let the grass grow around it.
