Hi Wayne,

At various times (in Massachusetts) I have had a Cushcraft 402CD
at 66 feet and at 90/95 feet. There is a big difference at this
location. At 66 feet I was opening 40 meters before anyone around me,
but after about an hour (when the band really began to open), signal
strength (both receive and transmit) really dropped. At 90 or 95 feet, I
don't open any quicker than other locals, but I don't experience any drop
in signal strength.

I don't know exactly how the propagation differences between MA
and W9-land would affect this analysis, but given the two choices here, the
90+ feet is a clear winner.
