I never had a 15M tuning problem. I first had mine at about 30 ft up the
side of my Glen Martin tower. I used an MFJ meter with about 80 ft of
Bury-Flex on it to make the initial readings. I adjusted the hairpin coil a
little back and forth trying to bring the 20M SWR as low as possible - 15M
and 10M were <1.2 and 20M was about 1.5 at 14080 and improving to 1:1 up in
the phone section. I never had to adjust driver lengths.
Then at the final resting place - 2 feet above the thrust bearing, 72 ft
total above ground, now with this series of coax: 80 ft Bury-Flex, 550 ft
LMR600DB, and finally another 50 ft or so of Bury-Flex. (You gota do what
you gotta do). The SWR now measured inside the shack was almost identical
to that measured earlier, lower, and with less coax. I guess I don't
believe proximity to the top of the tower is related to an 15M SWR problems.
Good luck and DX!
