I'm having a problem with a A3S antenna and I'm wondering if anyone has run
into this before. The problem is that signal levels fade way down on 10M.
Signal strength can be restored by hitting the PTT for just a second or by
rotating the antenna. As the antenna rotates you can hear the signal level
changing. It sounds almost like a rapid flutter.
I've tried to eliminate everything in the line except the rig and the
antenna. I've also determined that the problem exist with 2 different
radios. The fading problem doesn't happen on 15 or 20M. In addition SWR
mesurements appear to be normal on all 3 bands.
I've recently reinstalled the antenna on an 89' US Tower with all new coax
and connectors and the antenna worked very well for several weeks before it
began acting up.
Any body have any ideas?
