A Full Wavelength Loop DOES exhibit some gain
over a dipole, varying from 0 to 2.7 dB, depending
on the height / width ratio as documented in chapter 4
of The W2PV Yagi Antenna Book. For a Square Loop,
the gain over a dipole is reported as 0.84 dB.

Think of a 1WL loop as Two Stacked Half Wave elements
with the ends folded towards each other.

The longer the boom of a Quad, the less the additional
gain versus a Yagi of the same number of elements.
This is because stacked Long Boom antennas require
greater spacing to realize the full stacking gain improvement.
