Why should they do so?
They claim a wind area capacity of 35 sq. ft. For the Orion The Optibeam
just have 8 sq.ft.
Is that just a marketing figure?

I think they're going to discourage you from pinning the mast, either
from a warranty viewpoint or potential damage from it. OTOH it might work
