I like the idea of the second bearing...I would just need to find a shelf as
I have a bearing.
As for the process of lowering and lifting the mast, well you see there was
a stack of VHF and UHF antennas on it that needed to come down for
maintenance after 15 years, so I just lowered the mast to reach each antenna
in the stack.
When I came time to push/pull it back up, I got quite a workout! Thank God
it wasn't hot or humid yesterday!
The G7-144 works really well on 2m FM, so at least that is a success for the
effort!
Now I need some non-conductive spike strips for the pigeons to consider when
desiring to sit on the booms of my yagis.
Once I find some (CHEAP) I can put some yagis on the mast between 45 and 55
feet above the ground.

There are EASIER ways to do it Gordon!
Ive ~21-22' 1/4" wall steel masts on my 180' 45G and 100' 25G. Those went in
place with a gin pole. I use two thrust bearings which makes it easy to swap
rotators.
Im looking for aluminum now for a roof mounted and bracketed 45G that will
be used strictly for UHF and above. Lots of bands but very little weight and
wind load.
