A few suggestions:

1. Don't use rope to support antennas unless the rope is easily
replaceable. If you must use it, have a plan for replacing it without
climbing a tree. Rope does not last more than a couple of years. I
prefer galvanized wire, available at any hardware store. 

2. Higher is not always better. On the low bands especially, even DX
signals often arrive from high angles. If you really want to improve
your DXing, go to Beverages and four-squares, etc. The height
advantage you are talking about will hardly be noticeable. 

3. Best of all is to have several different antennas and be able to
quickly switch between them. One horizontal and one vertical antenna
would be great.
