I too find it kind of funny when a ham decides to spend thousands of dollars on tower sections,rotors, antennas and cabling plus the time investment but then will skimp on concrete or rebar. As my grandpa would say "penny wise but dollar foolish" The "other" stuff isn't a large portion of the total cost of the project and I would select a cheaper antenna or something ON the tower rather then make the tower installation a compromise. One can always change the antenna when the budget allows.
