The problem with HyGain yagis in general is that they are not torque balanced.
So the antenna is constantly beating against the brake (or the drive system if
turning) if there is any wind blowing. I have a F12 5 el 20 on one of my T2Xs,
but it is torque balanced so it has no problem turning in any kind of wind.
But as mentioned, HyGain says it will work so no worries.

Subject: Re: [TowerTalk] Max antenna weight
How do,
Dave is having fun with a T2ZX and a TH-11:
Quote:::
I have a HyGain Tailtwister rotor mounted inside seven sections of Rohn 45. I
plan on placing a 10 foot mast into the rotor (2" O.D.
galvanized steel pipe), through a heavy duty thrust bearing, and on the mast, a
HyGain TH-11 (not exactly a featherweight itself).
My question is: How much weight will the Tailtwister rotor handle?
Is potentially this too much weight? I have been told that the HyGain rotors
will handle up to 1000 lbs of weight. While I'm not
close tot hat weight, this is a heavy amount. Any help would be appreciated.

Dave,
Google and the MFJ/Hy-Gain site are your friends. Hy-Gain recommends the
HDR-300, T2X, or the Ham IV for this antenna.
>From the T2X manual: Max Effective moment is 3400. You get this from the sum
>of turning radius and weight, so 22' times 88 lbs equals 1936, so that's in
>limits. Antenna weight is 88 lbs, so that shouldn't be a problem, given the
>triple bearing race of the T2X. T2X rated at 20 sq ft of area.......
In closing, I am neither an antenna Guru or an engineer, so you should only
consider what is in print, the MANUFACTURES print as in the
manuals.............. other wise, YMMV. OR you could spend the bucks and get a
REAL engineer to run the numbers.
Good luck with the project.
