I used to have a DX Engineering reversible beverage here and did make my own
homebrew open wire also because of the cost. I used aluminum electric fence
wire. I did use a narrower spacing to try and stay closer to the ~400 ohms of
ladder line (its actually lower than 450 ohms). I think my spacing was around
1.5-2 inches. It worked fine.
