Got it. Thanks. How come the txcvr stays in tx?

There is no waterfall. There is only a spectrum display.
1. Open a RTTY window (Rttyrite)from the main WL Window menu.
2. In the TU Type menu of the Rttyrite window, select Soundboard AFSK.
3. In the Mode menu of the Rttyrite window, select BPSK and a small tuning
display will appear.
I played with this today. I had to really crank up the audio from my receiver
in order to get a signal to show up in the display. I
may have been able to compensate this by increasing the level in the Windows
Record Control panel but didn't play with it. And it
seems the filter of the PSK function of WriteLog is centered around 1000 hz
with no way to adjust it. You can adjust transmit and
receive frequency but if you get too far from 1000 hz you lose the signal on
the display even though you can hear it clearly through
the headphones (or speaker). This is probably by design and makes for a nice
narrow filter. I'm guessing Wayne envisioned PSK
contesting like RTTY contesting where you tune in a signal with the VFO instead
of clicking on a signal in a waterfall or spectrum
display.
However, I was extremely impressed with the ability of WriteLog to copy PSK
while a CW contester hammered away in my receiver's
audio passband.

I have been reasding the thread on psk so I went to WL to play with it. I can't
find any reference to it or waterfall etc. Where is
it?

Hi Gary AL9A and others,
Thanks for the Q's in both the CW and phone SS tests.
Regarding the RIT/tuning problem of other stations, I can't explain it these
folks who call and are almost unintelligible; but I suspect they have used
their RIT (or XIT ?) control somewhere else on the band and have forgotten
to cancel it. They are therefore transmitting on a different frequency when
they think they have us tuned in properly. I also had a couple of great
examples of this mis-tuning during the SS phone test.
Regarding the halting behavior of some of the IC-756 Pro class rigs with
WriteLog, the advice given to up the baud rate will help. Another helpful
feature is to reduce the software's rig polling rate. See the help files
for implimenting this and the archives for more history. I don't know
what's happening on the CIV bus to cause these delays or unresponsiveness.
I don't experience this with the DXLab Suite for general non-contest,
DX-logging/rig control. In my "WRITELOG.INI" file, under the
[Configuration] section, I have set my polling rate as follows:
RigPollInterval=1000
I had improved performance at 500 and just went on up to 1000. This makes
any issue manageable for me.
Yes, there are some missing commands from the ICOM instruction set. I have
heard that other manufacturers also have issues with certain aspects of
their computer interfaces.
I can tell you I sure like running my rig (a Pro 2) with a MicroHam
MicroKeyer interface and WriteLog.

OK folks, I have never really messed around with the band map before but
decided to try it in CQWW CW (new tower and antennas make a guy feel
invincible). Any way, I had everything running smoothly here until I
lost my telnet connection. I reconnected and teh spots are radidly
filling in the telnet window but the band map and packet spot windows
will not repopulate. What simple mouse click am I missing here????
Thanks

One other note on Icom rig control
IF you are running IcomForceSplit=1,
THEN at the rig polling rate, the computer
will send split status ( either on or off )
to the rig.
If you try to use a front panel button and
collide, the button will not fucntion.
I have had this on the antenna selection as well
as RIT.
Increased polling interval should help, but of course this
is a tradeoff
