I am using a MicroHam MicroKeyer (MK) with a Heil Headset connected to the mic
input on the MK connected through to the radio. This appears to be working
because I can speak into the mic and the radio keys and audio pass
through--tested it on the air.
Still need some help!
I would like to get the "record on the fly" working and it seems that I can not
get the headset mic to record thru this setup.
Shift+F7 seems to start the recording process and ESC does stop it. The
msg7.wav is/was created but it does not contain any audio.
Here are the settings in Writelog Sound. Two Radio on One Device:
xmit(s) from PC Speakers (Realtek High Defini)
DVK mic Microphone (Realtek High Defini)
rec(s) to PC Line In (Realtek High Definitio)
To check that the audio path from the computer to the radio was working, I did
copied a wav file (kc4hw.wav) from a previous event into the Writelog WaveFiles
directory and then edited the F4 Message for <kc4hw.wav>. This wave file plays
back to the radio and over the air.
Any help would be much appreciated.

I found the easiest way to record messages to use with WriteLog is to use
Audacity. Follow the instructions here:
https://writelog.com/wav-files-for-transmission
Also, if you happen to have a copy of the January 2012 CQ magazine, there is an
article written by Jamie, NS3T, that has more information on creating voice
files for WriteLog. I highly recommend it.
Last year I used WriteLog to make over 3800 SSB contest QSOs and most of them
were made with the voice files created with Audacity using the instructions on
writelog.com and from Jamie's hints in the CQ article.
I didn't even use my radio microphone to create the voice files. I use a $5 set
of ear buds that had a built-in microphone. Besides making files for "Alpha,
Bravo, Charlie..." I made several other files such as CQ and report files for
the various contests.
Also when I recorded messages that were not letters or numbers, I named them
with a hashtag to start the filename so that all the files should not get mixed
up with a.wav, b.wav, etc. So I have filenames like #cq.wav, and #don.wave,
etc. For files that are recorded for a specific contest, I start the filename
with #napq or #ss, etc.

Writelog Sound. Two radios on one device (although I
don't have two radio, this was the default panel that came up).
Radio Audio
xmit(s) from PC (Speakers(Realtek High Definiti)
DVK mic (Microphone (Realtech High Defini)
rec(s) to PC (Line in (Realtech High Definitio)
other setting appear to be at default.
The setting for Writelog - Setup - Options Sound - Board Options
Ports tab: "DVK type" "Window sound board" will not remain selected and
defaults to "NA interface".
Sound Tab: I keep checking the "Enable Receiver Listen Loop" and "Echo
Microphone to Transmitter(s) but they want stay selected.

OK, I did find the Writelog Guide "WAV File transmission" and downloaded the
Audacity program and its default sound card setting are:
Mic: Line In (Realteck High Definitio
2 (Stero) Recording (I reset this to 1.(Mono) Recording)
Speakers (USB Multi-Channel Aud) (I use this to play computer sound items,
such as youTube, etc)
Additionally audio is coming from the radio to Audacity I have recorded the RX
audio and it will play back through the computer speakers.

END GAME: Trying to setup DVK Messages. However, none of the SHIFT+function
keys are recording a message.
I obviously have something goofed up, but don't
know what...any help?
