Get a Radio Shack --Audio System Ground Loop Isolator--Catalog number 270-054,
they cost $14.95. Now, you can get by cheaper if you have a 1:1 audio
transformer and hook up your stuff to that. The idea here is to isolate the
ground loop which is what is sounds like you have there.....The R/S device
seems to be the simple way out.
