[Yaesu] FT1000MP MKV FIELD & USB

This may seem like a silly question, but I need to know if anyone has had this 
problem, or do I have a problem.
I've replaced my old computer (that had 2 9pin serial ports) with a new one 
that only has usb ports.  Do I just get a cable that has the 9pin connector on 
one end and a usb connector on the other end hand and just hook it up, or do I 
have a potential problem?
