No doubt he has wealth of knowledge and is very interesting fellow to debate with, I have done just that several times in the past, - both on and off this list. It's his propensity to put a pro Icom

I have both a few Pegs and a Kachina 505DSP here. While I have spent far more time using the Pegasus, I have played enough with the Kachina 505DSP to have a good basis for comparison. I?ll try and li

I run Win2K here and a trick that I found is to turn on the Pegasus imediately after clicking the "OK" button for the .RUF file that you want to load. When I try doing it using the exact same steps a

Yes it is 16 bit. I too would love to see a 32 bit version of it, - just because. It will be interesting to see if the flash loader program for the Orion is the same. Up to now the DSP devices used i

Actually the 580 does have back panel connections that can be used to key an amplifier, but I don't think it is capable of full QSK, it does however have a settable delay that may come close to QSK s

Hmmmm, ponder a comparable kind of thing regarding the triode tube sometime around 1920: "Well they finally built a radio that's beyond understanding." Q: What is the function of the TRIODE stage? 1.

The main point of my earlier rant (ok it was bit of a flame, sorry :-( ) was to dispel the myth that the Orion and its accessories are being marketed differently than its competition, simply not so.

I wouldn't get overly wrapped with figures touting numbers of bits alone. What ultimately defines a DSP radio's performance is still its ANALOG design characteristics. As long as the A to D and is be

One other thing to think about is if the IF gain pot has been "tweaked" for more gain you will see degradation of the strong signal handling capability of the Pegasus (the Jupiter too I would assume)
