UPDATE : Yep another blwn bias transistor - second since about April. Also appears the HV is OK at about 3145 V no load as measured with an external Fluke DVM , so metering is messed up again. What I

Dunno about the TR3/TR4/T4X series but the TR7 uses the same 4 pin mic connector as the 565 Orion (but wired differently of course so you can't use it without rewiring ) - Hank K7HP

I have an XG1 but I see now they have an XG2 which supplies a "known" signal on 3 bands (80/40/20) instead of just 40 meters, it is a little more dear at $59 - There si a littel bit about it in QST J

By any chance has anyone experienced self oscillation with a Centurion key up after application and removal of drive ? Mine has decided to do this on 40 meters only (into a good 50 ohm dummy load). I

FWIW _ It appears with the help of several folks on this reflector and the AMPS reflector the Centurion oscillation problem on 40 meters is resolved. It also appears the "squeal " is fixed but may re

Hi Rob - Agree with most all your comments - As I dig into the Centurion deeper , there are a lot of corners cut that I would have done differently. For instance the meters are lousy - and I am sure

Squeal was a function of time on and heating , not the band of operation. The oscillation just started at about the same time . (In fact in retrospect - I think it was oscillating when new and I did
