The old Alpher blew a valve a few seeks ago so I decided to try low power
running the 930 barefoot. In the pace, paranoia, and panic that is the
Sprint having one less thing (amp) to mess with was kinda nice since my
shack is about as automated as a lead pencil. Got beat out a lot but also
won a few.
It was interesting having 3 contests going on at the same time. Sprint, FOC
and I think the VT QSO party. I answered a W1 calling CQ TEST and he gave
me 599 VT. I sent my exchange and asked for his name and Q nr. He gave his
name and 599 again, I ask again for Q number several times. He finally gets
mad and gives me #765! Hmmm, wonder what the log checkers will do with
that. It almost happened again with another none sprinter in W1. I just
gave him 599 MT finally and wiped it. Didnt want to spend another 3 minutes
like the first one took.
Good--This is by far the best I've done even when running High Power.
Continually improving antennas is why, I spose.
Bad--Got nervous when I cudn't find anybody and called CQ too much.
