Another spectacular and fun weekend.
Random thoughts: Wonderful conditions, with Saturday being the better day for
propogation, but Sunday being better for rate, at least for us. We had a rough
start, with one computer crashing and needing replacement 15 minutes before the
contest (of course, no spare ready to go), and a second one repeatedly locking
up on Saturday for reasons unknown. Also had S-9 line noise to the NNW Friday
night, which disapated after a rain storm late Saturday afternoon. Great EU
opening on 160 Friday night, but the noise level rose later that night & the
static crashes on Saturday made tuning 160 painful. K8NZ found steady high 10m
rates by going above 29 mHz for about 5 hours on Sunday; most of the post 10m
afternoon was spent frequency fighting on 20m.
As with the CW weekend, some of our regular ops were unavailable due to the flu,
and others not fit enough to put in long hours. Thanks to a great crew for
another fun weekend.
