Comments:
Finally put up a REAL 160 antenna. It's a coaxial inverted vee per the NJ3T
design on his web site. Previously, I had a shortened dipole (not very good on
TX or RX and limited BW) and a loaded sloper (poor RX/TX & blew out our electric
blanket) and 80M inverted vee with added length clipped on at ends (copied QRN
real well).
The NJ3T Inv-L got me through over many stations quite often. Worked 9 new
countries. I need to improve my RX capabilities, maybe with a loop of some
kind.
The band was good to the West Coast on Friday night, but not much heard west of
CO on Saturday night. However, there were great condx for me 0600-0800 on
Saturday night to EU after hearing nothing Friday night. Worked everything I
heard from the Caribbean both nights - wish there was more. Never heard any SA.
