Comments:
First time we've gone a whole weekend without a computer/software crash! Have
some kinks to work out with the 160m antenna but just about everything else
worked as planned. Popped a fuse in the Titan amplifier but had a spare that
was swapped in quickly. The new (test) mini-keyboard at one station was not a
big hit.
Jonathan/W1CU joined us for the first time - providing some needed overnight
relief on Saturday night. He also brought a huge bag of food "stuff" from his
local Stew Leonard's market - wish we had one near here!
We seldom came close to using all of the band changes permitted. The rules for
M/2 allow for six band changes per hour per station (or 288 changes in 48 hours
for each station, max six per hour). Between the two stations we had 29
changes the first day and 47 the second day. We only had one hour where we used
5 band changes on one station, and seven hours where we used 3 changes. That
mostly meant that only two bands were really open most of the time.
Near the end of the contest it was a tough game watching the packet window
because 90% of the spots that we hadn't worked were busted callsigns.
KM1P spent an hour on Sunday scouting out a place in the woods for future
receiving antennas away from the other towers. The key for us is being able to
hear well.
