Comments:
This was lots of fun! Dipoles, FT1000MP, hand keyed, paper logged. Most of my
stuff is still packed in shipping boxes.
I was recently transferred by the Coast Guard to the San Francisco area, and
this was my first activity in several months. I felt pretty good after a few
QSOs and I felt tha I got my "groove" back quickly. Unfortunately I didn't get
any SO2R practice.
It just so happens that there's a local radio club station located on the
hilltop directly behind my home, on USCG property. It's a great looking
location with a lot of potential, but some serious antenna work needs to be
completed before I can be competitive from there. For this contest I threw up a
couple dipoles for 20/40/80. I'm interested in any signal comparisons between
me and the other W6's. My first impression with wires tells me that this
station will Kick Butt once I get the club's TH7 back in the air.
This will unfortunately be my one and only NS before the Real Sprint. I was
transferred here to attend school and classes start next week - including a
Thursday evening class.
Thanks to the big welcome from everyone in the NCCC - I'm looking forward to
meeting everyone, and working the domestic contests from out here.
See everyone in the Real Sprint(tm)!
73, Dave N2NL
