Lots of QRN from very high local winds and storms to the West. Thanks to
everyone for your patience when I asked for repeats. It seemed like the static
crashes were pretty much in synch with calls and grid square exchanges.
I went QRT at 0830 with plans to get up at 1130 and finish up the contest with
some grayline opportunities. After laying in bed for 3 hours, listening to the
howling winds, I was pretty positive the inverted L (or supporting tree) was on
the ground. When the alarm finally went off at 1130, I made the decision to
try to sleep in and deal with the presumably downed antenna at sunrise. Bad
decision. When I finally got up at 12:30 and went outside to survey the area,
I found quite a few tree branches down, but the inverted L (and tree) still
standing. The band was already hopping with activity. Oh well.
In spite of the issues above, a great time was had. It's always a pleasure
working friends (old and new) on 160.
Happy New Year and thanks for the QSOs.
