I was operating the NA SSB Sprint and just wasnâ??t having fun, so I quit early
and decided to break in my brand new Elecraft KX1 and give the Salmon Run a go.
I was pleasantly surprised to find 80M in great shape betweeen WA and UT, so I
got into the fray. I am really a diehard QRO contester .... this was my very
first QRP entry ever..... but I found the little KX1 to be amazing. All S&P of
course, but 80M and 40M played well �� unfortunately, Utah and Washington
are too close for decent propagation on 20M, but I managed to log 3 qsos. The
KX1 is definitely a keeper!
Station: KX1 at 3-4 Watts to 80M inverted vee and SteppIR 3 el with 30/40
trombone.
