Comments:
This turned out to be the Smoke Ranch Halloween party and by Sunday the costume
was crumpled clothes, bloodshot eyes, and headphone hair, scary. We operated
without half of our usual crew who left the state for vacation, tropical
diving, women, better work offers, weather, and money. This station was half
naked. The call went out, and then they came. One by one, some two by two,
others 5 by 9. This was the weekend of food, drink, CQing, and song. Al, K7AR,
an ex-college DJ, led several 60s and 70s sing a longs. These off tune songs
forced many to beg to listen to 20m sideband splatter.
We didnâ??t set any records for the station this weekend but several new
operators got a lot of chair time. No equipment failures or software glitches,
win-test did just fine. Thank you to all the operators who braved the dark 5
mile gravel road to get here this weekend, we had a great time.
Congratulations to NK7U for their record breaking score, very impressive from
the Pacific Northwest.
