Comments:
This was the first club Field Day in many, many years. It was great to have so
many new faces come out & join the STX ARC operating from the territorial
EMA emcomm van.
Decided to go HP due to anticipated crummy condx, and this proved to be a good
decision. The logic was to maximize the fun factor and allow our newer
operators to experience the other end of a pileup.
As is often the case here in the USVI, 15m proved to be the money band. The
15m CW QSOs were made between midnight and 1am with a nice opening to the
western US, and a few other scattered places.
Also had many visitors from VI National Guard who were also conducting a comms
exercise this same weekend. Sounds like we may soon be giving a tech class to
many of their comms folks.
All-in-all, a very gratifying experience to see many new faces and for our
newer licensees to have a taste at being "DX".
Very 73,
Fred, K9VV / NP2X
