I wanted to try my occasional 1B Battery effort early in my 70's to keep the
string going. I gave up my 50 plus foot fold over mast in favor of ten 4 foot
sections of military masts. Hardest part was stringing the guys around our
gardens rather than laying thing out in a nice big open field. I wrapped our
gazebo in tarps because of the weather predictions. Plans was to do what I
could and sleep during thunder storms. The rains came for most of the first 15
hours, I added an umbrella to shield the laptop and K3 from splashing when the
winds picked up.
Conditions on 80 and 40 got extremely good during the night with not that much
noise in spite of all the rain.
10 and 15 were full of activity, but most were hard to work with my 40 foot
high dipoles.
All in all a lot better than I expected and nowhere near as much rain as our
1972 Field Day during the remnants of hurricane Agnes.
