CHECK LOG ONLY !

We were ready to take part as OL4A in Multi op category.
The manager of OL90IARU operation gave me a phone call - that the group which
promised to take part in the contest decided not to do so and the if we could
"take" it PLEASE.

I was not very thrilled, we took part 2 years back as OL50OL and operated sort
of Multi-Multi and sent only check LOG - but we were there 5 people and it was
considered sort of social gathering...

We were in the QTH only two people me and 10GHz guru - OK1JKT. We had 3 options

-to refuse, but as a president of CRC I could hardly do it.
-to go normally and if we would win there might be some hard feelings since we
used special call, if we would not due to the horribly long call we might be
than ....
-to go some sort of M/2 and send check log only.

So we went for the third option, I was trying on last moment to call other
people but no one could come so we were there only 2 and for last three hours
OK1FFU arrived.
We decided that main reason is to have fun and that we did.
We understood that it was a good chance to put OL90IARU on the air and give a
chance to as many people as possible to make a QSO.

Each of us operated about 23 hours, it was hard to find the motivation during
the slow going night - we new it is check log only.....but we persisted !
The whole operation was 48 "man on the radio" hours.

Some observation:
very good JA propagation on 160m - 26 QSOs and listening only on the vertical !

10m was still open but just barely
Also decent opening to JA on 80+40m.
After the magnetic disturbance around midnight - US was week on 80 and on 160
we worked only 3 NA stations.

The result is just for information what we made.
It was visible that the bands were sort of "depleted" from the
stations there and in the end it went sort of slow - but it was expected
specially in not too good propagation in the second half of the contest.

Looking forward for a QSO in the CQWW CW where the whole party will be
present.

73 !

Jiri - OK1RI
