Comments:
What a ride! Great rates (for a LP station) on Saturday- not so hot on Sunday.
Did work 19 stations on 6 bands, and another 44 on 5 bands. Biggest surprise
of contest was working HS3EE on 10M Sunday- he was calling CQ, I worked him,
and he called CQ for another 5 minutes without getting another call. I was
concerned it was my good friend slim, but it appears that the station is legit.
WFWL.
Best hour rate: 1200Z Sat, 168 on 15M. Second best: 1100Z Sat, 20M. I went to
20M right at 1100Z, and found that the band was already fully involved. On
Sunday, I was there at 1030Z, and between then and 1100Z it was like someone
turned on a light switch.
10M turned out to be 10M, a fickle maiden at best. Stations were there to be
worked Sunday afternoon but I wasn't loud in Europe to run stations, so I had
to resort to S&P, the slow way. Still, where else was I going to get 10
mults on Sunday afternoon in 30 min? Finally wound up working 40 Eur stations
on 10M for 20 mults, and missed another 6 or 7 due to the rapid QSB. SN8B,
SO9Q, and RU1A were all plainly audible on 10M, but they couldn't hear me.
Never did hear a JA on 10M, although I looked both days hoping to work just
one!
Thanks to all for the Qs, and thanks to Greg W1KM for the use of his great
station. The new 4-square on 160M is working truly great.
