Comments:
Very bad start to the contest when my power supply failed 45 minutes into the
contest. A quick 30 minute repair saved what could have been a very
embarrassing moment for me in the eyes of my team "SMC Royal Fork".
Except for 10 contacts on 40 meters with an attic dipole all QSOs were made with
my 68 foot vertical wire hanging straight down from a very tall Sycamore tree.
On 40, 20 and 15 meters used the 68 foot vertical as an end fed vertical using a
home made 64 to 1 transformer along with a 8 foot counterpoise wire and choke on
the feedline, and on 80 and 160 meters used the 68 foot vertical as a base
loaded vertical fed against 55 short buried ground radials (2500 feet of
radials).
Mostly search and pounce on 20 and 15 meters which really dragged down my rates
but fun working Alaska on 20 meters with my new end fed vertical configuration.
Fantastic run rates on 80 meters for my little station, 40 year old radio and
difficult call sign but will never be a big gun operating from my deed
restricted neighborhood.
Transceiver: Kenwood TS-180s (100 watts) with 500 Hz IF filter
RX Antennas: 3 small point fed pennants (pointing 40, 160, and 300 degrees).
Audio Filter: Hi-Per-Mite active audio filter (200 Hz bandwidth).
Fun contest as always.

Don (wd8dsb)
