Comments:
Happy to find 14 MHz open with a good number
of Westward top-rabbits. Signals were very
weak, but the trinity of John's VE3EJ K1ESE
and W9ILY, were the ones above the noise
floor with head and half of the shoulders.
The rest was weaker, but I could get them
all, though not immediately. The band was
getting better towards mid-CWT, and there
was a weak path to OK/HA as well.
After 1925Z I went to 7 MHz for a larger
European selection with mostly just weak
signals, with the highlight being Allan
VK2GR. My own CQ was fairly productive
at first, but then it was time to move
to 3.5 MHz where signals were fragile
in the aftermath of the Aurora.
With the short Winter-days the higher
bands close generally soon after early
sunset (after 3 PM local), and even 7 MHz
may be practically dead at 1900Z, so I was
quite happy to get all of this action...
Cheers/73, Zaba OH1ZAA #1856 CWops
