Comments:
The Sun got very active immediately after I ended
my NP2ZA-escapade on Sunday (until then mostly at
B7-level for X-rays). Aurora has been fierce with
still over 40 GW in the 1300Z session and signals
on 14 MHz were very damped even for Europe.
When I switched to 28 MHz at 1320Z I heard Heijo
EA8OM quite strong, but my actions on the tuner
were too slow to get my signal out in decent time.
Then I had a very short East Coast USA opening with
W2GD W1KM K1RM until it faded, and no USA on other
bands. Next 21 MHz gave a good yield but not on CQ.
Back to 28 MHz for the last minute with HB9BJP.
After running the 160 m contest at NP2ZA with Fred
NP2X, I made a few changes at OH5ZA: I dropped the
pitch from 620 Hz to 550 Hz to have more procentual
resolution on multiple incoming stations. Doing this
on the IC-7300 I discovered by accident that I could
place an orange tag for WPM next to the small knob
top right at the screen, and have immediate access
to CW-speed without the need to first push the knob
to adjust. This function is needed very often during
a session when trying to adapt to each CWT-operators'
likely preferences (like need for speed) during S/P.
