If you were to open a ceramic fuse such as a "Littlefuse" - 3AB/25A,
you will find out why they use ceramic fuses.
Inspection will reveal, beside the ceramic cylinder, there is an amount
of sand included with the fuse element.
This prevents the fuse from blowing up, literally, because the sand
suppresses the "arc" that results from separating of the fuse element
and at the same time, the ceramic cylinder which has better qualities
than "glass", keeps the fuse from blowing up!

Please make sure you use them as stated.
